London Terror Attack:

We are deeply saddened and angered by the horrific attack that killed seven and injuring several others.

We strongly condemn these cowardly acts of violence on innocent people and our prayers are with them, their families and loved ones.

We are also proud of the emergency services who were at the scene within minutes.

The dedication of the emergency services, NHS and the community to help the injured and to make Londoners and visitors to the city, safe and secure has been inspirational and demonstrated humanity and compassion at the darkest times.
Violence and terrorism has NO RELIGION, NO JUSTIFICATION and NO PLACE.

British Muslim communities are equally appalled by the murders, and angered by those who commit abhorrent acts in the name of religion. The perpetrators do not represent us; their views are perverse and self-serving.

It is evil people who do evil things; such acts will only increase our resolve to remain united.

We urge all communities in Britain and Surrey to stand firm with compassion and solidarity. We must not let these terrorists divide us, otherwise the terrorists will win. Let us not play into their divisive narrative, and instead show them that people of all faiths and backgrounds can live peacefully, together.

In the spirit of Peace and Unity the Surrey Muslim Communities would like to invite you to Peace vigils taking place in Surrey;-

Finsbury Park Mosque Attack

We are greatly shocked and saddened by the terror attack on innocent people that took place in North London near Finsbury Park mosque just after midnight on Monday 19th June, killing one elderly man and leaving 10 others injured. According to witnesses a white man drove his van into a group of Muslim worshippers coming out of a mosque after their special Ramadhan night time prayers, in a racially motivated terror attack. The brave passers by managed to pin down the driver to the ground, who was shouting islamophobic slogans while they patiently waited for the police to arrive at the scene. The emergency services arrived at the scene within minutes. They helped two of the injured people at the scene and took 8 others to various hospitals around the area. Two of those in the hospital are believed to be in a serious condition. The PM has condemned this as an act of terrorism saying , " it was a sickening attempt to divide people which would not succeed". The deputy assistant police commissioner stated that "no matter what the motivation for this attack proves to be, this being treated as a Terrorist attack". He further commented, " this was an attack on London and all Londoners and we should stand together against extremists whatever their cause"

We at SMA condemn this terrorist attack in the strongest of terms and demand that this rise in hate crime against the Muslim community over the years is dealt with by the government extremely seriously and actions will be taken to reassure the British Muslim community to feel safe during these very difficult times. At the same time we would like to promote peace, unity and defiance in the face of hate, terror and any form of extremism. It is up to us as Britons and as a society as a whole to make sure we are not going to be divided and we will stand up together not allowing any intolerance against Islamic as well as against the values of our British society because hatred breeds violence and extremism.

Our prayers and thoughts are with the family and friends of our brother who lost his life. May Allah make his soul rest in peace in the here after. And we pray for a quick and full recovery of those who are being treated for their injuries at the hospitals. Ameen

We pay tribute to the emergency services and the members of of public who helped and are helping during and after this incident.

We stand united alongside all the law abiding citizens of this country against all forms of hate crime and violent extremism and will do our level best to promote peace and unity in our local communities.

Surrey Muslim Association Press Statement on Manchester Terror Attack:

This was a barbaric act that is beyond words designed to cause maximum pain and suffering. It was a despicable and that it happened at a concert attended by so many children and young people is truly beyond any understanding.
This is a criminal act and the perpetrators should face the full weight of the justice system.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected including the wounded, those searching for loved ones and those grieving for such a terrible loss. We pay tribute to those first responders, the emergency services and the people of Manchester who worked throughout the night to save lives or rushed into work or who offered humanity when it was needed. We pay tribute to ALL the services that continue to provide support, love, care and compassion to all.

Our deepest condolences are with the families and friends of the victims, We stand with Manchester. There are no words that we can find which can describe such murderous acts nor can we find words of condemnation that can indeed express our feelings.
We are horrified by this attack and we are all determined that those who seek to divide our diverse and peaceful communities in Britain will not succeed.

There is no justification for murder, and all those who commit acts of violence and terrorism cannot do so in the name of any faith. Any such claim is illegitimate. British Muslim communities are equally appalled by the murders, and angered by those who commit abhorrent acts in the name of religion. The perpetrators do not represent us; their views are perverse and self-serving.

We urge all communities in Britain and Surrey to stand firm with compassion and solidarity. We must not let these terrorists divide us, otherwise the terrorists will win. Let us not play into their divisive narrative, and instead show them that people of all faiths and backgrounds can live peacefully, together.

Like the terrorists who want to divide communities, there will be some in the days ahead who will try to use this atrocity to attack innocent people. We equally reject their intentions.

It is evil people who do evil things; such acts will only increase our resolve to remain united.
We conclude with a verse from the holy the Quran that translates:
"O mankind! We created you from a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes that you may know one another (not that you may despite one another). Verily the most honourable of you in the sight of God is the one among you most careful of their duties. Surely Allah is Knowing, Aware. (the Inner Apartments Chapter, verse 13).

And “..that if anyone killed a person not in retaliation of murder, or (and) to spread mischief in the land - it would be as if he killed all mankind, and if anyone saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of all mankind.”

Surrey Muslim Association – New Zealand Mosques Terror Attack

Surrey Muslim Association (SMA) strongly condemns the horrific terrorist attack on innocent Muslims during their prayers at two Mosques in Christchurch New Zealand. We must stand firm against such Islamophobic onslaught against Muslims worldwide and applaud the statement of the New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.

Dr Naqvi, Chair of SMA, states: “At this moment of great sadness our prayers are with those whose lives have been taken, those injured in the attack and their loved ones who have been affected by this heinous terrorist attack; we strongly urge world leaders to root out extremism from their societies in all its forms and not allow anti- Muslim sentiments, especially in the media to provide oxygen to hate crime against Muslims or indeed any section of the communities.

We request Imams, and managements of all mosques to be extra vigilant and take precautionary measures to protect themselves and work closely with the police to ensure security of those attending the Mosques.

Attacks on mosques and Muslims have continued to increase over a number of years in the UK too and we implore the government to take appropriate security measures to ensure our safety and to root out overt Islamophobia prevalent, which fuels such dastardly acts against innocent citizens”
