Community services
Our Imams can conduct the Nikah ceremony and provide guidance to the bride and groom on the Islamic requirements of marriage, including consent, Mahr (dowry), witnesses and the responsibilities and rights of husband and wife.
We aim to make the Nikah process welcoming, straightforward and meaningful for couples and their families. Where appropriate, our Imams can also offer pre-marriage advice and Islamic marriage guidance to help couples prepare for married life.
Nikah services may be available in English, Urdu, Punjabi and Bengali, subject to Imam availability. Sunni and Shia Imam's are available upon request.

Important: An Islamic Nikah does not necessarily constitute a legally recognised civil marriage in England and Wales. Couples should ensure that they understand the requirements for registering a marriage under UK civil law where applicable.

Caring for the environment is an important teaching of Islam and the Qur'an describes mankind as being successors or stewards of the earth: “And it is He (God) who has made you successors (khala’ifa) upon the earth...” (Qur’an 6:165)
“O children of Adam! Wear your beautiful apparel at every time and place of prayer, eat and drink, but waste not by excess, for God loves not the wasters.” (7:31)
"Eat and drink from the provision of Allaah, and do not commit abuse on the earth, spreading corruption.” (Qur’an, 2:60)
ENERGY PROJECT
The SMA have been funded to deliver a short term energy project where we will do a roadshow of events at Mosques to demonstrate ways of being more efficient with energy usage in homes. We will distribute some freebies, which include things like draught excluding strips, radiator reflectors, thermal film for windows, and letterbox covers.
